Washington State offers winter enthusiasts a snowy paradise with its diverse and picturesque ski destinations. From the towering peaks of the Cascade Range to the serene beauty of the Olympic Mountains, both sides of  Washington offer a wealth of ski resorts that cater to both seasoned adventurers and those seeking a more casual winter wonderland escape. As nature transforms Washington into a white playground during the winter months, skiers and snowboarders alike can carve through pristine powder, soak in panoramic mountain views, and experience the charm that each destination has to offer. 

This guide covers 20 slopes for skiing in Washington State, for cross-country skiing, nordic skiing, snowboarding, and more. We’ve provided general information about the ski resort options, along with a link to the official websites. Be sure to check for current prices of lift tickets, operating hours (always subject to change based on weather conditions), and other time-sensitive operating information.

49 Degrees North Mountain Resort

Located in Chewelah, Washington, 49 Degrees North spans 2,325 acres, providing a getaway for skiing and snowboarding enthusiasts. The resort offers a wide terrain with 82 trails catering to all skill levels, with elevations ranging from approximately 3,924 feet to 5,774 feet, giving a difference of about 1,854 feet. The resort is open from late November to early April throughout the general season, operating every day from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, with limited hours on weekends and holidays.

Alpental

Located in Snoqualmie Pass, Washington State, Alpental Ski Resort offers elevation ranges from approximately 3,156 to 5,479 feet, providing a thrilling experience for skiers and snowboarders. From early December to mid-April, the resort extends its services throughout the general season, allowing visitors to enjoy skiing daily from 9 am-4 pm.

Badger Mountain

Located in the winter landscapes of Waterville, Badger Mountain Ski Resort offers elevation ranges from approximately 2,999 feet at the base to 3,481 feet at the summit, with a difference of 486 feet, providing an intense skiing experience. The resort welcomes guests from early January to late March and operates throughout the general season. The doors are open every day from 11 am-4 pm.

Bluewood

Located in Dayton, Bluewood Ski Resort attracts winter enthusiasts with approximately 6.8 miles of slopes, providing a thrilling spot for skiing and snowboarding. Five lifts efficiently transport guests through the winter sports area, located between elevations of approximately 4,544 and 5,669 feet, showcasing a vertical difference of about 1,125 feet. The resort is open to visitors from mid-December until late March. Bluewood Ski Resort offers a daily winter retreat from 9 am-4 pm.

Cascade Powder Guides

Located in Leavenworth, Cascade Powder Guides is a spot for backcountry skiers, offering helicopter access to snow and breathtaking scenery. This resort offers an exciting backcountry experience with elevations ranging from approximately 2,165 feet to 5,594 feet, a difference of about 2,795 feet. Weekend trips begin at 9 am on the first day and end at 4 pm on the last day.

Crystal Mountain

Located near Enumclaw, Crystal Mountain stands out as the state’s premier destination for skiing and snowboarding. The resort covers heights from approximately 4,396 feet to 7,008 feet, with a vertical difference of about 2,612 feet, and offers 31.1 miles of slopes served by 11 lifts. Crystal Mountain is open every day from 9 am-4 pm from November to May 5.

Echo Valley – Lake Chelan

Located above the serene waters of Lake Chelan in Chelan, Echo Valley is a family-friendly winter getaway, inviting all levels of enthusiasts with its affordable prices and diverse terrain. The resort spans elevations ranging from approximately 2,618 feet to 3,110 feet and has a vertical difference of about 492 feet. Echo Valley is open from mid-December to early March for the general season.

Hurricane Ridge

Located in Port Angeles, Hurricane Ridge offers a skiing experience with views of the Olympic Mountains. Despite its short season and limited facilities, the ridge is perfect for those seeking a more challenging skiing experience. Hurricane Ridge is the furthest west ski resort in the United States, and is one of three remaining ski facilities in a National Park. Winter activities offer elevations ranging from approximately 4,800 feet to 5,495 feet, with a vertical difference of about 699 feet. The ridge is available for exploration from 10 am- 4 pm  from late November to late March, with restricted opening periods during the week.

Leavenworth Ski Hill

Located in the lovely Bavarian-themed town of Leavenworth, Ski Hill provides a charming backdrop for winter enthusiasts, with elevations ranging from approximately 1,476 feet to 1,706 feet and an average vertical difference of about 230 feet. The slopes are lit, allowing for nighttime skiing and adding a touch of magic to the winter nights. During the regular season, which runs from late November to mid-April, lifts are open at 9:30 am- 6 pm.

Loup Loup Ski Bowl

Located in Okanogan, Loup Loup Ski Bowl provides elevations ranging from approximately 4,070 feet to 5,315 feet and a vertical difference of about 1,247 feet. Its friendly environment and reasonable prices have made it popular among locals and travelers. Loup Loup Ski Bowl is open from mid-December to mid-March, with lifts operating 9 am-3:45 pm.

Meany Lodge

Located at Stampede Pass, Meany Lodge, with elevations ranging from approximately 2,920 feet to 3,346 feet and a vertical difference of about 427 feet, provides a perfect location for winter enthusiasts searching for seclusion in the mountains. The lodge is open from late December to late March.

Mission Ridge

Located in Wenatchee, Mission Ridge offers diverse skiing terrain with views of the Cascade Mountains. Mission Ridge, with elevations ranging from approximately 4,567 feet to 6,816 feet and a vertical difference of about 2,251 feet, provides a stunning background for skiers. The resort is open from late November to early April throughout the main season, 9:00 am-4 pm.

Mt. Baker

Located near Bellingham, Mt. Baker is a well-known winter destination, with an abundant snowfall, challenging terrain, and laid-back atmosphere. Elevations range from approximately 3,510 feet to 5,003 feet, with a 1,493-foot vertical difference. The Mt. Baker ski area season runs  from December-April. Lift hours are 9 am-3:30 pm.

Mt. Spokane

Located in Mead, Mt. Spokane invites winter enthusiasts to experience a fantastic mix of terrain for both skiers and snowboarders. Because of its proximity to Spokane, it is a convenient and accessible option for a day on the slopes. Elevations range from approximately 3,887 feet to 5,889 feet, with a vertical difference of about 2,001 feet. Lifts operating 9 am-9:30 pm, December-April. This is a popular option for night skiing.

North Cascade Heliskiing

Located in Mazama, North Cascade Heliskiing offers a thrilling heli-skiing experience in the wilderness of the North Cascades. This heliskiing resort provides elevations ranging from approximately 4,921 feet to 8,858 feet, with a vertical difference of about 3,937 feet. North Cascade Heliskiing’s general season runs from mid-December to mid-April. This is an option for experience, advanced skiers.

Sahalie Ski Club

Located in Alpental Access, the Sahalie Ski Club welcomes winter enthusiasts to skiing and snowshoeing amidst the alpine scenery. Elevations range from approximately 2,953 feet to 3,133 feet, with a vertical difference of about 180 feet. The general season at Sahalie Ski Club runs mid-December to late March.

The Summit at Snoqualmie

Located in Snoqualmie Pass, The Summit at Snoqualmie stands as a premier winter destination near Seattle. The resort offers a wide range of terrain for a diverse winter experience, with elevations ranging from approximately 2,625 feet to 3,871 feet and a vertical difference of about 1,247 feet. Lifts operate 9 am-4 pm, early December until mid-April.

Sitzmark Ski Hill

Located in Tonasket, Sitzmark Ski Hill invites winter enthusiasts to a nostalgic and family-friendly skiing experience. Elevations range from approximately 4,364 feet to 4,872 feet, with a 509-foot vertical difference. Sitzmark Ski Hill’s season runs from mid-December to late March. Lifts operate 10 am-4 pm.

Stevens Pass

Located in Skykomish, Stevens Pass, with elevations ranging from approximately 3,839 feet to 5,741 feet and a vertical difference of about 1,903 feet, provides a popular skiing choice. It’s easily accessible to the greater Seattle area, and hosts numerous local downhill skiing classes for locals schools. Ski lifts operate 9 am-10 pm, .early December to mid-April. A little over an hour’s drive from the Seattle area, this is an easy choice for a few quick runs of night skiing.

White Pass

Located near Naches, White Pass provides a lovely winter vacation with its well-kept slopes and gorgeous surroundings. Elevations ranging from approximately 4,498 feet to 6,516 feet, with a vertical difference of about 2,018 feet, set the stage for an exciting skiing getaway. Lifts operate 8:45 am-4 pm, early December to early April.
