It’s time to add another two countries to my visited list – Thailand and Malaysia. It’s still a rather paltry representation, emphasizing that I made numerous visits to the same place rather than venture further afield. I’m working on plans to hit up a few more countries in 2014, so stay tuned. Create your own travel map – TravBuddy

Last month the monthly themed travel round up focused on History. Evidently, history related travel isn’t as compelling for you as it is for me, and we only had a few contributors. My favorite of the linked up stores was from Jennifer at JDombs Travels. Her story, A Picture of Russian Peasant Life, gave me a glimpse into Russian History. I was a political science major in college, with specialization in Soviet Studies, so that might be part of the reason why I found this story so compelling. Or, it could simply be the way Jennifer tells the story with words and photos. So what’s up this month? This month I want to know a little more about your favorite museum. If you’re a blogger and would like to participate in the link round up, here are the guidelines: Post […]

With my recent time spent in Ireland post-TBEX, I’ve added another country to my visited list – Northern Ireland. Northern Ireland is officially a part of the U.K., and referred to as a country, province, or territory. Without getting into the politics of Ireland, Northern Ireland, and England, I’ll just check it off my visited list and leave the politics to others. Here’s what my countries visited map looks like now, showing that I’ve visited only a measly 14% of the world. Create your own travel map – TravBuddy

In the middle of summer it’s a great time to stay home here in the Seattle area. It’s the best time of year here in the Pacific Northwest, and I want to take every opportunity to enjoy it. I did manage a long weekend road trip to southern Oregon this month, along with a trip to Mt. St. Helens (Can you believe that I’ve never been there?), and my routine travel. I guess I did log a few miles during July. Here’s where my travels too me in July: HND/SEA – 4,797 miles SEA/LIH/SJC/SEA – 5,867 miles SEA/SFO/PSP/SFO/SEA – 2,202 miles SEA/SAN/SEA – 2,106 miles SEA/SJC/OGG/SMF/SEA – 6,066 miles SEA/MCO/SEA – 5,106 miles Total miles flown in July: 26,144 miles Total hotel nights in July: 10 nights Year to Date Miles flown 2013: 163,948 Hotel nights 2013: 77 Photo credit: […]

April’s travel plans were sidelined a bit by a nasty little allergy attack. I’m a chronic allergy sufferer, and although I usually manage to keep my sinuses clear and my ears unblocked, I know better than to fly when I can’t do it. Pain or a blown eardrum just aren’t worth it. So here’s where I did go this month: SEA/SAN/BOS/SAN/SEA – 7,183 miles SEA/ORD/SEA – 3,436 miles SEA/HNL – 2,680 miles (Headed off to Honolulu to speak at Travel Weekly’s Hawaii Leadership Forum at the Royal Hawaiian Resort) Total miles flown in April: 13,299 Total hotel nights in April: 5 Year-to-Date Miles flown 2013: 89,221 Hotel nights 2013: 44 Photo credit: personal collection
